If you feel drawn to working with people, energy and holistic wellbeing, you may have found yourself wondering: how do I actually become a qualified BioEnergy therapist in Ireland?
Perhaps you’ve experienced BioEnergy Therapy yourself. Maybe you already work as a therapist, counsellor, coach or holistic practitioner and want to add another modality to your work. Or perhaps this is completely new territory, but something about energy work keeps calling your attention.
The good news is that you do not need previous experience in energy therapy to begin.
Becoming a BioEnergy therapist is about learning how to work practically and responsibly with the human energy system, developing your sensitivity and skills through hands-on practice, and completing the training, case studies and assessments required to practise professionally.
At the BioEnergy School of Ireland, this is exactly what we train our students to do.
What is a BioEnergy Therapist?
A BioEnergy therapist is trained to work with the energy field within and around the human body.
BioEnergy Therapy works with systems including the aura, chakras and meridian system. During training, students learn how to sense and work with these energy systems using established BioEnergy protocols and techniques.
The work is complementary. It does not replace medical treatment, diagnosis, psychotherapy or other appropriate professional healthcare.
What it can offer is another way of supporting a person’s overall wellbeing.
And becoming a good practitioner requires much more than simply learning where the chakras are or memorising a sequence of hand movements.
You need practical experience.
You need to learn how to work safely with another person.
You need professional boundaries and ethics.
You need to understand your scope of practice.
And perhaps most importantly, you need enough supervised practice to develop confidence in what you are sensing and doing.
That is why our BioEnergy Diploma is taught primarily in person.
Our BioEnergy Training Lineage
One thing that is important to me is the lineage of the BioEnergy Therapy we teach.
The training at the BioEnergy School of Ireland has not been created by taking a collection of energy healing techniques from different sources and giving them a new name.
Our BioEnergy teaching comes through a direct training lineage connected with Michael O’Doherty of BioEnergy Healing in Ennis and the original foundations of the BioEnergy system in Ireland.
That lineage matters to us.
Students are learning established BioEnergy principles, protocols and methods that have been passed down through practitioners and teachers, while our modern training has continued to develop around them.
I have also expanded the way we train practitioners to include areas I believe are essential for therapists working today, particularly trauma-informed practice, somatic awareness, emotional wellbeing, professional ethics and practitioner development.
We respect where the work came from while making sure our graduates are prepared for the realities of working with people today.
Do You Need Previous Qualifications?
No.
You do not need to already be a therapist or have previous experience in energy healing to begin training with the BioEnergy School of Ireland.
Some of our students arrive with years of experience in complementary therapies, counselling, coaching, healthcare or wellness.
Others arrive having never consciously worked with energy before.
Both can become excellent practitioners.
What matters is your willingness to learn, practise and develop your skills.
Energy sensitivity is something we work on throughout the training. You are not expected to walk into your first day already knowing how to scan an energy field or confidently sense what is happening around another person’s body.
That’s what you’re coming to learn.
What Does BioEnergy Therapist Training Involve?
The Diploma in Bio-Energy Therapy at the BioEnergy School of Ireland combines theoretical learning with extensive practical experience.
The training includes eight in-person training days, supported by additional online learning and Zoom sessions.
Across the training and study period, students receive more than 80 hours of tuition, alongside home study, assignments and a minimum of 20 hours of case-study work.
During your training you learn areas including:
-
the principles of BioEnergy Therapy
-
the human energy field
-
aura, chakra and meridian systems
-
energy sensitisation
-
scanning and working with the energy field
-
the general BioEnergy protocol
-
more than 15 BioEnergy protocols and techniques
-
emotional associations within the body
-
practitioner development
-
professional ethics
-
somatic and trauma-informed practice
-
working appropriately and safely with clients
-
clinical practice and case studies
But there is something equally important happening alongside the syllabus.
You are learning to trust yourself as a practitioner.
You practise.
You receive feedback.
You practise again.
You experience the work both as practitioner and recipient.
Gradually, something that may have felt unfamiliar at the beginning starts becoming something you understand through experience.
That practical development is one of the reasons I believe BioEnergy is best learned in person rather than entirely through an online course.
Case Studies: Where Your Training Becomes Real
Classroom training gives you the foundation.
Your case studies are where you begin learning what it actually means to work with people.
After your practical training, you complete the required case-study hours and document your work.
This gives you experience of working with different people rather than simply repeating techniques with classmates.
Real clients are different.
People arrive with different personalities, histories, emotions, expectations and reasons for seeking complementary therapy.
Learning how to navigate that is part of becoming a professional practitioner.
Students at the BioEnergy School of Ireland receive mentorship and support for up to six months while completing this stage of their training.
You are not expected to finish your final classroom day and suddenly figure everything out alone.
How Do You Qualify as a BioEnergy Therapist?
To receive the Diploma in Bio-Energy Therapy from the BioEnergy School of Ireland, students must successfully complete the training requirements, including their required case studies and both written and practical examinations.
The diploma isn’t simply awarded because you attended the eight training days.
We want our students to leave knowing that they have demonstrated both their understanding of the work and their ability to apply what they have learned practically.
Once you have successfully completed your training, examinations and case-study requirements, you are qualified as a BioEnergy therapist.
Graduates can then seek appropriate professional therapist insurance, subject to the individual insurer’s terms and requirements, allowing them to move towards practising professionally.
What Can You Do Once You Qualify?
This is where there isn’t one prescribed career path.
And I actually think that’s one of the beautiful things about this work.
Your career as a BioEnergy therapist can become whatever you decide to create with it.
Some graduates establish their own BioEnergy practice.
Some already have therapy businesses and integrate BioEnergy alongside the work they currently offer.
Others discover a particular area of wellbeing that they feel strongly drawn towards.
Over the years, our students have taken their training into many different areas, with practitioners developing interests around areas such as:
children and families, emotional wellbeing, mental wellbeing, stress, women’s wellbeing, holistic health and complementary therapy.
Your training gives you a foundation.
Your niche develops from you.
It may be influenced by your previous professional experience.
It may come from something you’ve lived through personally.
Or you may not know your niche at all when you begin.
That’s perfectly fine.
You don’t need to decide what your entire career will look like before you’ve completed your first day of training.
Can You Combine BioEnergy With Other Therapies?
Absolutely.
Many students who train with us already work in another profession or complementary modality.
BioEnergy can sit alongside other appropriate practices, provided practitioners remain within their training, competence and professional scope.
For someone already working with people, BioEnergy can offer another perspective and another practical skillset.
For somebody starting from scratch, it can become the foundation on which they build their therapeutic work.
We have also seen students discover entirely new directions after qualifying.
That’s why I don’t tell students, “This is what you should do with your diploma.”
My role is to train you properly.
What you create with that training is yours.
Why Trauma-Informed Training Matters
This has become an increasingly important part of how I teach.
When you’re working with another human being, you’re not simply working with an energy field.
You’re working with a person.
That person has a history.
They may have experienced trauma, grief, anxiety, loss or difficult life experiences that you know nothing about.
A practitioner therefore needs more than an energetic technique.
They need awareness.
They need boundaries.
They need to understand consent.
They need to recognise what is and isn’t within their professional role.
And they need to understand that being a BioEnergy therapist does not make them a doctor, psychologist, counsellor or psychotherapist unless they separately hold those qualifications.
That’s why somatic and trauma-informed principles are incorporated into our BioEnergy practitioner training.
For me, this is part of what professional energy therapy needs to look like today.
Do You Need to Be Naturally Gifted?
This is probably one of the most common fears I hear.
“But Dee, what if I can’t feel anything?”
You don’t need to arrive already knowing how to work with energy.
That’s the point of training.
Some people are naturally very sensitive and recognise energetic sensations immediately.
Others develop that awareness through practice.
Being highly intuitive on day one doesn’t automatically make someone a better therapist.
What matters much more is whether you’re willing to learn, practise, listen, develop self-awareness and work responsibly with another person.
I’ve watched students arrive uncertain about whether they could do this at all and gradually develop confidence through actually doing the work.
Confidence doesn’t have to come before you start.
Very often, confidence comes because you started.
Is BioEnergy Therapy a Good Career?
That depends on what you want from it.
There isn’t one standard BioEnergy career.
You may want a full-time therapy practice.
You might want to work part-time around another career.
You might integrate BioEnergy into an existing holistic business.
You might eventually specialise in a particular niche.
Or perhaps you simply know you’re drawn to this work and haven’t figured out the rest yet.
All of those are legitimate starting points.
Training gives you the professional foundation.
Your interests, experience, personality and the people you most want to work with will help shape what happens next.
And that, for me, is far more exciting than training every student to create exactly the same type of practice.
Becoming a BioEnergy Therapist in Ireland
If you’re considering training, don’t worry about having your entire future mapped out before you begin.
Ask yourself something simpler:
Am I genuinely interested in learning how to work with energy and support other people through complementary therapy?
If the answer keeps coming back as yes, then it may be worth exploring.
At the BioEnergy School of Ireland, our Diploma in Bio-Energy Therapy is practical, in-person and professionally focused. You will learn the established BioEnergy protocols passed through our training lineage, while also developing the trauma-informed awareness, ethics and practical experience needed to work responsibly with people.
You’ll complete practical training, case studies and assessments and receive mentorship while your skills develop.
Then what you do with it is up to you.
Your training gives you the foundation. Your career is the part you get to create.
